Bottazzi family, origin and history
Our history goes back to 1935, in the charming Italian city of Piacenza, located in Emilia Romagna. In the dark 1930s, marked by the inexorable rise of fascism, Guido Bottazzi set up his small watchmaker’s workshop. Always passionate about the precision of mechanical movements, he spends his days dismantling and reassembling the various systems brought to him by customers, without yet knowing that this nascent activity will have a decisive impact on the generations that will follow. It was first of all his son, Franco Bottazzi, who, from the age of 13, went to school in the workshop of a local watchmaker before joining the family business.l’entreprise familiale.
In the 1960s, like many Italians, he settled in France with his family and entered a Parisian workshop. After having acquired enough experience to fly on his own, he opened his first shop on rue de Dunkerque (Paris 9e). In 1984, his son Bruno Bottazzi joined him as an apprentice watchmaker and jeweller. Then, a few years later, it was her sister Rosanna Blondeel and her brother Jean-Marc Bottazzi who joined the family jewellery store. The development of the activity led Franco Bottazzi to acquire a second store at 109 boulevard Magenta (Paris 10e).
Bruno et Rosanna
These years are years of training, both in contact with customers and the various Parisian workshops, and also on a theoretical level with the continuation of a complete course at ING (Institut National de Gemmologie) for Bruno and Rosanna, which allows them to become State Gemmologists. Long years of experience that naturally lead children to decide to fly on their own when Franco Bottazzi retires. While Jean-Marc moved to the Madeleine district, Bruno and Rosanna opened their shop at 41 rue des Martyrs (Paris 9e).
